Investor Profiles

Many investors choose to focus strictly on financial returns, and there are many advisors and bankers who can help them. Our investor class is slightly different. Investors in the TIA network include:

  • New foundations created by "living donors" who want to apply business principles to their philanthropy
  • Established foundations that have come to recognize the benefits of an investment model relative to the traditional grant model
  • Religious/ values-based investment institutions who want their portfolios to reflect their philosophies
  • Large corporations and institutional investors seeking new strategies to implement Corporate Social Responsibility programs, and
  • High net worth individuals who have broader goals for their investment portfolios or a portion thereof.

The establishment of a $100 million "mission-driven" investment program by the Kellogg Foundation, a dedicated mission investing group by Cambridge Associates, and over a dozen new investment funds committed to achieving social impact demonstrates the rise of this new class of investors. The Monitor Institute estimates the market for this type of investment could grow to $500 billion in the next five to ten years.
